Prof Nomvula Rakolote
Adjunct Prof: Built Environment
Nomvula Rakolote is the Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Construction Project Managers (ACPM), an Adjunct Professor in the Built Environment, and a respected leader in governance, professional development, and the advancement of the built environment sector. She currently serves as the Independent Chairperson of the Arup Education Trust, is a member of the Central University of Technology (CUT) and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Advisory Committees, and serves as a Council Member of Sol Plaatje University. With more than 27 years of leadership experience across education, governance, regulation, and the built environment, Nomvula has built a distinguished career dedicated to strengthening institutions, developing professionals, and creating sustainable pathways for skills development and economic participation. She is the former Chief Executive Officer and Registrar of the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP), where she played a pivotal role in advancing professional standards, accreditation, registration systems, and stakeholder collaboration within the sector. Through her leadership of ACPM and various industry initiatives, she has championed the professionalisation of built-environment disciplines, graduate transition programmes, candidate development frameworks, mentorship initiatives, and strategic partnerships between academia, industry, and government. Her work has directly contributed to expanding opportunities for students, graduates, and emerging professional Her extensive skill set includes corporate governance, business development, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning. With over 18 years of executive leadership experience, 15 of which have been in the construction sector, Nomvula is recognised for her strategic insight, ability to navigate complex challenges, and commitment to sustainable growth. Nomvula’s vision, expertise, and dedication position her as a trailblazer in advancing the construction profession and fostering impactful, long-lasting industry change.
