Topic – Contract Participation Goals for targeting subcontractors and suppliers in construction
Problem Statement: Subcontracting offers many opportunities for industry sustainability including efficient delivery of projects, knowledge transfer and an avenue for community liaison. However, subcontracting can also impede project delivery. To ensure effective use of the subcontracting tool, CIDB has provided guidance through contract participation goals (CPG). However, it is unlikely that the desired outcome may not be realised if it is not understood or interpreted correctly.
Questions
- Referring to the CPG, how should subcontracting be done in the future?
- What does the CIDB recommend as part of the CPG Gazetted document?
- What are the limitations to the implementation of the CPG?
- How should the sector deal with sub-contracting in general?
